DOCUMENT GUIDE

What to include in a translation request

Small details help identify the right service.

What to include in a translation request

Before requesting translation, ask who will read the document and what it will be used for. Those answers help identify the right language service and what must be confirmed with the recipient.

Specify languages and use

State the source and target languages and whether the purpose is personal, commercial or official. A request for “certified” translation still needs the recipient’s requirements to be understood.

  • Receiving entity and its instructions, if available.
  • Document type: certificate, contract, correspondence or business content.
  • Whether this is a new translation or review of an existing one.

Explain the size and file condition

Page count alone is not the whole picture. Text density, clarity, tables and notes help define the scope.

  • Page or word count when known.
  • Editable file or scanned image.
  • Stamps, handwriting or tables that need to be considered.
  • Delivery format and any presentation instructions.

Provide a reference for names

Tell us if names or terminology must match a passport, licence or approved company record. The team will explain what is needed and how to share it; avoid unnecessary sensitive details in the initial description.

Before confirming scope

Confirm the languages, included text, format, recipient requirements and target date. If one of these changes later, ask for the scope to be reviewed before proceeding.
